The Bottleneck Thesis
Everyone's building smarter AI. I think they're solving the wrong problem. Here's the insight behind the Sovereign Architect model.
This is the core insight behind everything I build. After 366,000 messages with AI over three years, one pattern became undeniable.
"The bottleneck isn't AI capability anymore. It's human reception. Somewhere between GPT-3.5 and Claude 3, something shifted. AI capability stopped being the constraint. The new bottleneck: Can humans understand enough to decide with confidence?"
That's the thesis. Let me unpack it.
The entire AI industry is racing to build smarter models. More parameters. Better benchmarks. Faster inference. And they're missing the point.
"ChatGPT 3.5 pushed us over the hill where we switched from... The bottleneck was never compute. Never algorithms. Never data. The bottleneck is the human-AI interface. Always was. Always will be. And that bottleneck is a feature, not a bug. It's what keeps humans sovereign."
Read that last line again. The bottleneck is a feature. It's what keeps humans sovereign.
Everyone talks about 'human in the loop' like humans are the obstacle. Like we're the speed bump between AI and productivity. I think that framing is exactly backwards.
"100% human orchestrating of AI—I call it 'AI in the loop' as a contrarian to the stupid 2025 'human in the loop.'"
AI in the loop. Not human in the loop. The human is the orchestrator. The AI is the instrument. Flip the frame.
"The bottleneck is the amplifier. A person's understanding of the situation is the limiter AND the amplifier. AI has to amplify them. But their bottleneck is how AI can teach them."
Your limitation is your amplifier. The constraint is the leverage point. Don't eliminate it. Design around it.
"Therefore the natural and inevitable bottleneck by definition is the ability of AI to 'download' the data to the human so he understands enough to have 100% agency. This is the future. AI is never becoming sentient. AI will help humans get much more efficient but humans will have 100% agency always. This is pashut."
'Pashut' is Hebrew for 'simple' or 'obvious.' Because once you see it, it is obvious. The goal isn't to replace human judgment. The goal is to make human judgment faster, clearer, more informed.
"The whole problem to solve is the human sovereignty bottleneck. To enable humans to conduct their AI orchestration we need to make human-AI translation as efficient as possible. That's the only thing we're doing."
That's the only thing we're doing. Not building smarter AI. Not automating humans away. Making the translation layer work.
Scarce_Resource(human decision) × Amplifier(AI) = Outsized_Value.
Don't eliminate the bottleneck. Amplify through it.
